Our Pilates Philosophy

At The Pilates Studio Totnes, we are passionate about healthy, optimum movement and we would like to share this with you!

Through the Pilates method that we teach, we will encourage you to create an awareness of how your own body feels when you move. As you do this, over time you will come to see that with this level of awareness, you are able to create change in the way you move. You will also begin to see that you benfits are not only physical rather the impact this has on our whole body wellness, can be profound. It is for these reasons (and more) that Pilates is now used as a therapeutic aid by a wide range of professionnal sports people, dancers and all those that want develop and maintain their core flexibility and strength.

All Pilates is not the same! There are as many different ways of teaching Pilates, as their are teachers. If you do Pilates with us, you will see that we are different. We are different because, whether you are on a mat or in the equipement Studio, we will see you and teach you as an individual. Our successful Pilates method depends on precision, and as such we will always want to be able to watch you, and give you as much individual guidance as is required.
If we had to describe a 'goal' that we aspire to, it would be to provide you with the tools, for you to live in your most comfortable body. Thus giving you the freedom and capacity to be able to do all the other things in life that you love to do.
